Method Select either a linear or parabolic equation for estimation. The classic straight line is commonly used in medium and high permeability, normally pressured gas reservoirs. For parabolic equations, an upward curvature demonstrates additional tight gas contribution from adjacent tight rock, or pressure support associated with a strong water drive. A non-linear downward trend demonstrates formation compaction or unaccounted-for well production.
Source Select the gas analysis source with which to perform the material balance. The different sources appear on the DataCard Gas Analysis/Pressure tab.
Left Estimation Bound Drag the line on the graph to the right to exclude P/Z points associated with early production.
Right Estimation Bound Drag the line on the graph to the left to exclude P/Z points associated with late production.
Abandonment P/Z Drag the horizontal Abandonment P/Z line up to estimate the expected cumulative gas and recovery. To enter an exact abandonment P/Z, click the numerical Abandonment P/Z value that appears on the left of the chart, type the value, and then press ENTER.
Copy Right-click and select Copy to paste the P/Z plot into a third-party application.
